DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, Santo Domingo, copper 4 maravedís, Charles-Joanna, assayer F, with key (revaluation to 2M, 1577) and anchor (Jamaica, 1611-16) countermarks, NGC VG 8 BN, ex-Busto. Cal-84; host: S-SD1; Cal-Type 14. Rare set of two different countermarks indicating its circulation in two countries some 35-40 years apart. Both countermarks boldly struck into the same side, rather dark surfaces, a few natural edge-cracks, incorrectly labeled as a 2 maravedís on the slab. Pedigreed to the José Busto Collection.
